Chappell quote

May 26, 2009

Containers are a blessing in the shipping industry, but not a priority when choosing frontline Test bowlers – Ian Chappell on Andrew Mcdonald and Nathan Hauritz in the Australian Ashes squad

Is that why left-handed (can)-openers might not sell at the local Walmart but are the rage in test-match lineups?

Or why gaps in the slip(s) are only welcome when worn by a woman and not when behind the wickets?

Or why the thirdman is often not welcome even though he saves a few runs simply because he makes a crowd?

Or why it’s more rewarding to glance down fine-leg after the (leg) slip has been removed?

Or why it’s inappropriate for a silly mid-on to be advising an orthodox left-arm bowler on where to bowl?….
